what part of kansas are you in? have you tried the building and trades contractors there? i know there is a company in whichita named blackhorse or blackbrush that does alot of work there in a plant. might help you out. also pm kansaswelder he might be able to help you.
yes i need a welder. my only problem is I'm stuck in Kansas. I have a truck but I'm trying to get the money to get it fixed. The only way i can get the money is to go on the road and work as a helper
Thanks Ez. I will give a few more practice runs tomorrow. I grabbed a big handful of 3s to burn. The other guys testing must have been cheating then. They filled and capped with 5s. I ran some 8P+ over the weekend and damn can i cap pretty with those. They are 5s that i have. Wish i could have ran those instead of 70+.
no 3's are what most gas com. want you to weld with. i leave the bottom just a bit low so i can horseshoe it and fill up the sides so there is no undercut. and again turn your heat down when you get to about 5 and 7 o-clock. you dont need as much heat on the bottom cuz its hot by the time you get down there and the gravity is going to pull your metal down. good luck next time
well until you get good with 3's turn your heat down 10-20. dont go up a range you will have a mess on the bottom. leave it a little low on the bottom too. what size pipe?
Good to see your still busy Ez. I wish i could say the same. Damn 3/16 70+ kicked my ass on the bottom today. I had it made till right on the bottom about a 6 inch long spot went to hell on me. Oh well live and learn. Any tips on running 3s on the bottom? The top and sides were great but the overhead....... My gut told me to jump up a gear but i had the rest looking good so i figured i was fine.
thats good! i am busy with holloman doing anomily digs, digging up bad spots in the pipeline and replacing the pipe. got a few more months here.i heard its getting busy up there. may have to come that way next month and get out of this heat for a while!!lol
